Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Camarines Norte Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) and Camarines Norte Federation of Cooperatives (CANOFECO) attended collaborative meeting on 20 February 2021.
CBSUA through the Extension Services Division led by Dir. Vladimir R. Foronda, Director, and Research Division’s Director – D. Aries O. Ativo together with Ms, Wenielyn G. Nilo from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources faculty representative and CANOFECO headed by Ms. Norma F. Dasco, its Chief Executive Officer. Also present during the meeting were the shareholders of the organization- Engr. Almerante A. Abad the Provincial Agriculturist, Dr. Elvie T. Gayosa- the Program Officer of TRIAS (Turning Dreams into Opportunities), Engr. Domingo B. Baloloy, the Municipal Agricultural Officer of San Vicente, Camarines Norte and his staff-Ms. Marilyn C. Pauto and Mr. Ador Sanchez engaged in the said cooperative dialogue.
CBSUA was chosen as an important entity to address the mentioned organization’s needs in organic farming based on the challenges that they were facing in adaptation to climate change. Also, the agenda included the discussion of the opportunities for collaboration between CANOFECO, OPAg, and CBSUA on promoting organic agriculture in Camarines Norte, possible areas of collaboration and expectations from different stakeholders and the agreement on the next steps including the persons-in-charge.
Aside from the partnership meeting, the CBSUA witnessed the graduation exercises of the farmer-participants of the CANOFECO’s organized “Season-long Training on Organic Rice Farming”.
