CBSUA stood out at the 35th Regional Symposium on Research & Development Highlights as its researchers bagged Best Paper and Best Poster awards in various categories on March 8, 2024, at Sorsogon State University.
Ms. Liza Lyn A. Villano and her team secured the 3rd Best Paper Award – Development Category with their study titled “Turmeric Research and Development Program in Bicol” with her co-author Ms. Wenielyn G. Nilo, Ms. Lily John C. Casimiro, Ms. Alessandra M. Domanaco, and Mr. Jobelly B. Pacis.
In the Student Category, Mr. Jayryl D. Enano and his adviser, Dr. Marilyn B. Balderas, garnered the Best Poster Award for their study “Radiation-Modified Carrageenan as Plant Growth Promoter: Boosting Disease Resistance, Growth, Yield, and Shelf Life of Open-Pollinated Variety Tomato”. Mr. Darwin A. Garbeles, under Dr. Balderas’s guidance, secured the 2nd Best Poster Award for the study “Adiangao Cave-Dwelling Bacterial Isolates: A Novel Approach for Enhancing the Growth and Yield of OPV Corn”.
Other participants from CBSUA under the Research Category were Dr. Hanilyn A. Hidalgo presented her study titled “Impact of University Branding on Consumer Purchase Intentions for Aloe-Bignay Drink in the Philippines and Indonesia”. In the Development Category, Dr. Marco Stefan B. Lagman presented his study titled “The Persistence of Ongoing Re-Introduction of Farmer-Bred and Heirloom Rice in Albay Province: Stories and Lessons from the Field”.
