On November 23, 2023, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by the Local Government Unit of Gainza, Bombon, Canaman, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), and the Landbank Countryside Development Foundation, Inc. to address the lack of banking services in the unbanked municipalities of Camarines Sur, as identified by the funding agency.
The MOA signing was attended by the Municipal Agriculturists of Gainza, Bombon, and Canaman, namely Engr. Alex V. Togño, Ms. Jessica Arevalo, and Mr. Rodolfo DC. Nunez Jr., respectively. Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, the University President; Dr. Ramona Isabel S. Ramirez, VP of Research and Innovation; Prof. Lilia Pasiona, OIC RI; and Dr. Vladimir R. Foronda, Project Leader/Extension Services Division Director, were present at the event.
As part of the agreement, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources-Department of Agricultural Economics will lead the Financial Literacy Training in collaboration with the Extension Services Division. The training aims to enhance financial literacy and awareness among the unbanked and underbanked residents of the selected municipalities and promote access to basic financial services and products.
