Graduate School

The CBSUA graduate program was established in 1983 by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 198 which converted the Camarines Sur Agricultural College into a chartered state college known asthe Camarines Sur State Agricultural College (CSSAC). It was headed by a Department Chairman under the Division of Instruction.

It initially offered the degree of Master in Agricultural Extension and Master in Resource Management during the first and second semester of school year 1983-84, respectively. The following year (1984-85) the Master of Science in Crop Science, Master of Science in Animal Science, and Master in Science in Agricultural Education were offered as additional courses. In the school year 1989-90, it offered the Master in Crop Protection.

Years later, the Department was elevated to the Division of Advanced Education headed by a Director. In1993, the Division was renamed Division of Graduate Studies headed by a Dean and Assisted by a secretary. In the following year (1994) the Master of Science in Agricultural Extension was opened which was previously a non-thesis course.

In 1997-98, it started offering two doctoral programs, namely; the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science with two major fields of specialization (Agronomy and Horticulture). In 1999, the Division of Graduate School became what is known as the Graduate School which was headed by a Dean and Assisted by Associate Dean.

In recognition of the quality of Graduate Education in CBSUA, the Accrediting Agency of Charted College and Universities in the Philippines, Inc., (AACCUP) granted on April15, 1999 its Master’s Degree Programs the Candidate Status (Level I), and Accredited Status (Level 2) on April 15, 2001. On April 15, 2004, the Master’s Program (1st Resurvey) was granted again Level II (Re-accredited status).

On October 16, 2005, the Doctoral Programs in Development Education and Plant Science were granted Candidate Status after the Preliminary Survey which was conducted on September27, to October 1, 2005. After the First Survey Visit on August 4-6, 2008, the two (2) Doctoral Programs were Granted Level I (Accredited Status) on August16, 2008.

On August 19-21, 2009, the Third Formal Survey, Phase I for the Master of Science in Plant Science/ Animal Science/ Plant Protection, Agricultural Education and Agricultural Extension,and Resource Management was conducted. The Master’s Program s have successfully passed the accreditation process and were awarded the status Qualified for Level III on October 13, 2009.

On August 2010, the Commission on Higher Education approved the inclusion of the Central BicolState University of Agriculture as a Delivering Higher Education Institution(DHEI) of CHED Faculty Development Program (CHED-FDP) Phase 2 for the Master’s Programs in the Graduate School, the Master of Science in Animal Science,master of Science in Plant Science, master of Science in Plant Protection majorin Entomology and Plant Pathology.
