Synergy Project Pilipinas met Mayor of Municipality of Baao, Camarines Sur, Jeffrey S. Besinino and its Sangguniang Bayan to discuss partnership that would increase the resilience of communities, farmers and micro-enterprises on 14 August 2019.
The “Adaptation to Climate Change through Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Agriculture Striving for Mitigation Co-Benefits” known as the Synergy Project is a partnership of 27 organizations (cooperatives, non-government and people’s organizations, and higher education institutions) and support by the Province of West Flanders-Belgium.It aims to build safe, sustainable, resilient communities and enterprises, with focus in the provinces of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela. This synergy project aims to 1) increase in agriculture productivity by empowering farmers and fisher folk to adopt environmentally sustainable and ecosystem-based production systems; 2) enhance market access to small-scare entrepreneurs and family farmers by strengthening their entrepreneurial capacities in operating community-based social enterprises and lastly mainstream climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and management (CCA-DRRM) in vulnerable communities and increase their readiness to access climate finance.
The CBSUA is a member of the HEIs forSynergy Project Pilipinas serving as the main partner in the South Luzon Area in promoting sustainable agriculture.
