The success of Pinaggikanan asin Bikolnong Suanoy’s inaugural extension activity, the Likha Year 1 Exhibit and Seminar, has inspired this year’s Likha Year 2: Exhibit and Seminar on Philippine Indigenous Creative Crafts. This event took place on October 19-20, 2023, at the Ladawan Center, Agri-Tourism Building of CBSUA, as part of the 1st Anniversary Celebration of the Regional Center for Indigenous Peoples.
The celebration featured the creative works of students enrolled in GEC 12, Indigenous Creative Crafts, under the guidance of Dr. Cherry Love B. Montales, Ma’am Ana Vera V. Hugo, and Sir Ian Albert Amparo, along with exhibits from the CBSUA Ladawan Museum. This year’s exhibit emphasized the beauty and diversity of Filipino historical and cultural heritage, in alignment with Republic Act 7722.
CBSUA, as the designated Regional Center for Indigenous Peoples, is deeply committed to inclusive education that fosters an appreciation of Indigenous Peoples’ culture and arts. The College of Development Education, recognized as a Center of Development, supports this mission by striving toward Sustainable Development Goal #4 on quality education. Through initiatives like Likha, BSED and BEED graduates are encouraged to engage in preserving and promoting Filipino heritage, preparing them to play active roles in cultural education and heritage conservation.
