LGU PILI EMPOWERS FARMERS WITH TRAINING ON HERB PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING FOR LINIMENT

The Local Government Unit of Pili, in collaboration with the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), successfully conducted a specialized training program titled โ€œTraining on Herb Production and Processing for Liniment.โ€ The training was held on October 11, 2024, at the Farmerโ€™s Training Hall in CBSUA San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.

The objective of this training was to empower members of the Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council (MAFC) by enhancing their knowledge and skills in herb production, with a specific focus on creating effective liniment products. Among the key speakers was Ms. Almira R. Billones, a faculty expert from CBSUAโ€™s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, who shared her insights and expertise on herbs and production techniques. The hands-on demonstration was led by Angelita L. Dacara, the owner of Dacara’s Farm and Garden, who guided participants through the step-by-step process of liniment production.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in an inclusive program that covered the complete production process, including material preparation, formulation, and packaging of the final liniment product. Additionally, critical aspects such as quality control standards, regulatory requirements, and entrepreneurial strategies were addressed. This holistic approach aimed to equip participants with the necessary tools to create high-quality herbal liniments and potentially establish or enhance their own businesses within the herbal products industry.

In a generous gesture, the Turmeric Center, headed by Ms. Lizalyn A. Villano, the Center Director, provided each participant with two kilos of pre-germinated turmeric rhizome as planting materials.

Among the notable attendees was Hon. Tomas P. Bongalonta, Jr., the Municipal Mayor of Pili, who delivered an inspiring message encouraging participants to apply the skills learned to improve their agricultural practices. Also in attendance were Arvin P. Salvino, the Acting Municipal Agriculturist, and Caroline G. Resayaga, the Agricultural Technologist, along with their dedicated Technical Support Staff: Shiela Daliva, Trixia Mae P. Montealgre, Elnie Maureen P. Raborar, and the CBSUA-Pili Campus Administrator, Dr. Allan B.
