Bannering the objective of empowering and professionalizing the barangay police, the extension services unit of College of Criminology of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture-Sipocot together with the Cabusao Municipal Police Station spearheaded an extension activity on Barangay Public Safety Officer Training (Phase 1) on October 9, 16, 23, 30 and November 06, 2021 at the Municipality of Cabusao, Camarines Sur.
The program was participated by the barangay police of the nine barangays of Cabusao Camarines Sur namely; Pandan, Barcelonita, New Poblacion, Biong, Castillo, Sta. Lutgarda, Sta Cruz, San Pedro, and Camagong. The program revolved around the discussion of the topics such as public safety, anti-violence against women and their children, gender-sensitive awareness, traffic management, and basic investigation and search and arresting procedure with disarming technique. The police officers of the Cabusao Municipal Police Stations served as the resource speakers.
In the culmination of the five-day program, the association of barangay police was created. The association aims to strengthen and unify the BPSO unit in the municipality of Cabusao, Camarines Sur.
This extension program is part of the flagship program of DUYAP (Damayan at UgnaYAn sa Pamayanan) which responds to the core of the extension services unit of CBSUA-Sipocot that is to help build resilient and sustainable communities by empowering the public and the communities through extension and training services.
