The second batch-junior level ka-BIOs of the BS Biology program of the College of Arts and Sciences-Pili Campus commenced one of the most exciting and anticipated experiences for undergraduate students, the Practicum/ Internship Training for mid-year/summer term SY 2021-2022.
The Practicum Training Orientation Seminar with the theme βA Future-Ready Biologists Gearing Towards Practical Immersion and Internship for a Better New Normalβ was successfully conducted through a face-to-face modality last June 13, 2022 (1:30-5:00 PM) at CAS-Lecture Hall.
In collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences and Research and Innovations cluster, the activity highlights events through practical immersion and laboratory works in different units/centers that showcase the Universityβs flagship program and commodities. Exposure to general methods applicable to laboratory tools and techniques, biodiversity conservation studies, museum cataloging, digital tools for molecular biology and biotechnology, research work ethics, as well as integrity in research, and an ideal venue for the conduct of the undergraduate thesis work are also part of this endeavor. This is to continue the commitment to excellence in advancing biology education in the region, sharing best practices through research and innovations with global standards.
The event was made possible through the efforts of the Society of Biology Students Officers members (2021-2023), faculty members, supportive administrators, parents, and other stakeholders. | via Prof. Shela V. Ruiz
