CBSUA STRENGTHENS TIES WITH TAIWAN AT 2024 NPUST CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY

Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) actively participated in the recently concluded 2024 National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) Centennial Anniversary Ceremony held in Taiwan from November 14 to 17, 2024.

Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, CBSUA President, and Dr. Allan B. Del Rosario, Campus Administrator, represented the university at the four-day event.

The centennial celebration highlighted the importance of sustainable development. Renowned figures like Prof. Dr.-Ing. Chin-Lung Chang, President of NPUST; Mr. Gene Lay, Founder/CEO of BioLegend, Inc.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, Chairperson of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings; and Dr. Nguyen Thi Giang of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry delivered keynote speeches, sharing their valuable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in this crucial area.

The conference included interactive sessions, fostering discussions and idea exchanges among experts and academics from various fields. Topics like “Driving Changes through USR: Innovation for Public Welfare” and “Achieving a Sustainable Future: Innovative Application of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture” were explored, promoting an international platform for knowledge sharing.

A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between President Naperi and representatives from two Taiwanese universities – Taiwan Steel University of Science and Technology and Shu-Te University. This MOU paves the way for a stronger academic and cultural exchange between these institutions and CBSUA.

The MOU facilitates various collaborative opportunities, including faculty and staff exchanges, joint research activities, participation in seminars and academic meetings, exchange of academic materials and information, student exchange programs, and special short-term academic programs.

To conclude their visit, President Naperi and Dr. Del Rosario conducted an ocular visit to cut flower farms, fish culture farms, and vegetable and fruit farms. These locations serve as potential venues for On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs for CBSUA students, bridging classroom learning with practical experience.

Through active participation in the NPUST Centennial Anniversary and the signing of the MOU, CBSUA aims to strengthen international collaboration. This will lead to shared knowledge, innovative research, and enriched learning opportunities for students and faculty.
