CBSUA, PDC INKS PARTNERSHIP FOR ORGANIC FERTILIZER DEVELOPMENT

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and Pecuaria Development Cooperative (PDC) have officially entered into a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 11, 2024, at CBSUA Agriville. This significant event marks the beginning of a collaborative initiative focused on promoting sustainability within the agricultural sector.

The MOA signing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, with CBSUA represented by its President, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, along with Ms. Zyla Avila, OIC- Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, Dr. Vladimir R. Foronda, Director of the Extension Services Division, Ms. Edlynne Kaith R. Manlangit, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Melchora B. Abonal, Project Leader for the Organic Fertilizer Project, Ms. Gracia P. Cabida and Ms. Zyra B. Hila, Project Study Leaders. On behalf of PDC, Mr. Archie B. Tabarangao, PDC Board Chairman, Mr. Alejandro T. Mora, PDC General Manager, and Mr. Franco G. Pesebre, PDC Secretary, were present, along with several PDC board members.

This partnership is dedicated to advancing research and development with the primary objectives of formulating and producing organic fertilizer using agricultural waste and providing training and capacity-building initiatives related to the products of this research endeavor. The event fostered a sense of optimism regarding the potential impact of this collaboration, particularly in enhancing the livelihoods of local farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Mr. Julius Alvarez, representing Synergy Pilipinas, a partner of both CBSUA and PDC, reaffirmed their organization’s support and underscored the importance of this partnership in addressing the critical challenges faced by the agricultural sector and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
