Central Bicol State University Agriculture (CBSUA), Bicol University (BU), and Partido State University (ParSU) delegates visited Mindanao State University at Naawan on October 13-17 for an ocular visit and workshop to finalize a partnership.
Bicol SUCs and Ako Bicol Partylist are set to join together to extend economic opportunities to fisherfolks in the Bicol Region. The partners will engage in R&D to determine the feasibility of adopting the sea cucumber hatchery technology developed by MSU-N on the Bicol coast. A sea cucumber hatchery will be established in the CBSUA-Pasacao campus that will serve as the source of sea cucumber stocks to be distributed to grow-out sites and soon be given to interested fisherfolks in the region. It is an opportunity to improve the economic status of local fishermen as they will have an alternative livelihood.
Partners will be working together for a common cause of developing the sea cucumber industry in Bicol with the assistance of Congressman Zaldy S. Co of Ako Bicol Partylist.
