CBSUA HOSTS 3RD QUARTER PDRRMC MEETING

Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) successfully hosted the 3rd Quarter Full Council Meeting of the Provincial Disasters Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) on September 6, 2024. The meeting, held at the university auditorium, brought together key stakeholders from various government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to discuss pressing disaster risk reduction and management issues.

Among the topics addressed during the meeting were the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Enteng and the ongoing La Niña phenomenon. The council, in partnership with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), continues to closely monitor weather conditions in the province.

Health and safety concerns were also highlighted, with the council discussing the current dengue situation in Camarines Sur. The council emphasized the importance of scientific-based decision-making through regular updates from health units.

In preparation for the upcoming Peñafrancia Festival, the council discussed necessary preparedness measures and operational procedures. The City of Naga, being the center of the festivities, requires coordinated efforts from all stakeholders to ensure public safety and security.

CBSUA’s active participation in the PDRRMC strengthens its commitment to contributing to the province’s development through disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. The university collaborates with municipal DRRMOs, law enforcement agencies, military units, fire departments, and other relevant organizations to promote disaster resilience.

Dr. Philip Talay, Director of Resilience Center, presided over the meeting as authorized by OIC-President, Atty. Dominador F. Faurillo.

CBSUA remains dedicated to fostering productive collaborations with its stakeholders and leading innovations to build resilient and sustainable communities.
