DA-PCC INVITES CBSUA AS THE HOST INSTITUTION FOR ITS REGIONAL CENTER

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture has been honored with an invitation to serve as the host institution for the Regional Center of the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) in the Bicol.

The establishment of the center aims to support the local farmers of the region, enhance the carabao development initiative, and address the challenges posed by the decline in the carabao population. This initiative also aims to ensure efficient and effective service delivery in the region’s carabao industry.

An inception and exploratory meeting at the Philippine Carabao Center National Headquarters, Science City of Muรฑoz, Nueva Ecija last July 26, 2024, was attended by the CBSUA President. Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, together with the Director for Extension Services Division, Dr. Vladimir R. Foronda, and Engr. Richard Castuera (IPMO). This meeting was led by the PCC Executive Director III, Dr. Liza G. Battad, Dr. Caro B. Salces (Deputy Executive Director), and Dr. Eric P. Palacpac (Chief, Knowledge Management Division).

This opportunity underscores the CBSUAโ€™s commitment to advancing agriculture in instruction, research, extension, and production. As a host institution, CBSUA will play an essential role in promoting the conservation and sustainability of the carabao industry in Bicol. Having the opportunity to host the center will amplify the institutionโ€™s efforts in its developmental initiatives in research, community extension, and enterprise development.

Both CBSUA and PCC are enthusiastic about this collaboration as it will create a substantial effect on the lives of farming families, contribute to the attainment of sustainable development of the livestock industry, and bring positive impacts to the Bicol Regionโ€™s agricultural sector in general.
