Marking a significant stride toward international educational cooperation and promising a bright future of cross-border excellence in education and research, CBSUA – College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) sealed an International Transfer Credit Program (ITCP) Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with UNWAR-Facultas Pertanian, in a ceremony held at the Alvaro Rabina Hall on October 2, 2023.
Distinguished representatives from both universities graced the event, with esteemed Indonesian professors participating via Zoom. Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs of CBSUA, set the stage with an opening address that highlighted CBSUA’s mission of Leading Innovations and Building Resilient and Sustainable Communities. CBSUA President Dr. Alberto A. Naperi conveyed his unwavering support through a video message. Other key university officials present included Atty. Dominador F. Faurillo, the Vice-President for Administration and Finance, and Prof. Dr. Ir. I. Gde Suranaya Pandit, MP, the Rector of UNWAR.
Dr. Gladys G. Rosales, representing CBSUA’s Office of Business and External Affairs, and Dr. I. Wayan Kandra, MPH, International Office Head of UNWAR, shared their messages of support. Ms. Edlynne Kaith R. Manlangit, the Dean of CANR, delivered an additional message of support on behalf of Dr. Allan B. Del Rosario, the Campus Administrator of CBSUA-Pili. Dr. Ir. I Gede Pasek Mangku, MP, provided the rationale for the activity, while Dr. Amelia R. Nicolas, PhD, the project proponent and ITCP Head of CBSUA-CANR, introduced the ITCP students and lecturers.
The commitment to this collaboration was symbolized through a pledge of commitment by both the Dean of CANR and the Dean of UNWAR’s Facultas Pertanian, IR. Dewa Nyoman Sadguna, M.AGB. Both parties expressed their enthusiasm for delivering quality education across borders and envisaged future collaborations in research and innovation.
Currently, the ITCP program will benefit thirty-two (32) students from CBSUA and seventeen (17) students from UNWAR, alongside seven (7) faculty members from CBSUA specializing in Bachelor of Agricultural Technology and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, particularly from the Crop Protection and Soil Science sections, and fourteen (14) faculty members from UNWAR. All experts will facilitate classes through the online platform.
Following the MoA signing, breakout sessions were held for each program, with faculty facilitating the orientation to students of both universities.
