CAS HUMANITIES DEPARTMENT SETS UP RICE STRAW CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

Adding a touch of creativity to the holiday season, the CAS Humanities Department unveiled its Rice Straw Christmas Village on December 5, 2023, at the CAS Building lobby, showcasing students’ projects from General Education Curriculum (GEC) classes, all centered around the unconventional use of rice straw.

To kick things off, PE teachers led a Zumba Dance session. Following that, the ribbon-cutting happened, with Dr. Gertrudis Girlie Jaucian, the Department Dean, Dr. Allan Del Rosario, Campus Administrator of Pili Campus, faculty members, and the project leaders in attendance.

Dr. Jaucian praised the students for their practical approach to using rice straw in creative ways, highlighting the real-world application of arts and sciences. The event was initiated as part of the research and extension project on rice straw.

The Rice Straw Christmas Village is not a grand statement but a simple suggestion for a more eco-friendly holiday.
