CAS-CALABANGA CAMPUS PARTNERS WITH LGU-CALABANGA FOR GROUNDBREAKING COASTAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

In a significant collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Calabanga, the College of Arts and Sciences-Calabanga Campus conducted a Coastal Resource Management Planning Workshop at the CBSUA Library Multi-Purpose Hall on April 17-19, 2024, marking a step in the sustainable management and conservation of coastal resources.

The workshop, aptly titled “Coastal Resource Management Planning: Charting a Sustainable Future, Integrating Conservation and Development in Coastal Resource Management,” was spearheaded by Ms. Agnes Faustino. Over the course of three days, a diverse group of participants, including Municipal/Commercial fishers, members of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Management Council (FARMC), Bantay-dagat/Bantay-bakawan volunteers, Barangay Councils, Maritime and LGU officials, and other key stakeholders, engaged in in-depth discussions and planning sessions.

With the expert guidance of facilitators from the BS in Fisheries program, including Dr. Helen Madela and Campus Extension Coordinator Prof. Salomon Azaรฑes, the workshop fostered an environment where participants could share their extensive knowledge on the issues. Together, they crafted strategic plans for sustainable management and conservation of San Miguel Bay’s coastal ecosystem and resources.
