CBSUA INKS MOU WITH IFERP; OCAMPO CLINCHES BEST RESEARCH PAPER IN ICCESU 2024

On April 12, 2024, the University inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute for Educational Research and Publication (IFERP) to be its active university collaborator in the International Conference on Engineering, Social-Sciences and Humanities (ICESSU) 2024 conducted on April 19-20, 2024 in Manila, Philippines.

The ceremonial MOU signing between the IFERP and CBSUA was attended by Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, who was represented by, Prof. Rowel M. Castuera, Campus Administrator of Sipocot Campus; Ramona Isabel Ramirez, PhD, Vice-President for Research and Innovation; Prof. Lilia Pasiona, Director of Regional Apiculture Center; and the lead proponents of the partnership, Darrel M. Ocampo, PhD, Dean of the College of Education and Dick Harence Dela Vega, Campus Research Coordinator.

The IFERP- Philippines Society brings together industry leaders, experts, and professionals to explore the latest trends and insights in research. IFERP organized ICESSU 2024 intending to connect professionals from diverse backgrounds and foster new relationships. Its partner universities are the University of Mindanao, Mangalmay Institute of Engineering and Technology, Philippine College of Criminology Manila, Philippines and a private organization, the Manila Secondary Science Research Advisers’ Association.

With the inking of the aforementioned MOU, the lead proponents, Dr. Ocampo, Dean of the College of Education and Mr. Harence S. Dela Vega, together with Ms. Ailyne F. Armenta, Research Staff, represented the CBSUA as partner collaborators in the “4th ICESSU.”

Plenary sessions were delivered by the different luminaries in the fields of Geotechnics and Geoenvironmental sustainable materials, Public Health, Emerging Trends in Mechanical Engineering (ETME), Language, and Humanities. It was followed by a panel discussion composed of experts from the industry and academe, whose topic revolved around Advancing Sustainability: Integrating Engineering, Solutions with Social and Humanitarian Needs.

Dr. Darrel M. Ocampo presented his study titled “Symbiotic Inquiry of Filipino ESL Learners’ Language and Literary Competence: Foregrounding a Pedagogical Interface” under the Language and Humanities category, which eventually won the Best in Research Paper award. On the second day, the parallel sessions continued where Prof. Gilda J. Taupa, a professor from the College of Information Technology, presented her study titled “An Examination of Virtual Learning Platform (VLP) Usage, Engagement Factors, and Effectiveness in Education; Analysis Using the Delone and Mclean Mode.”

The event ended with the presentation and acknowledgement of the committee heads and university collaborators, including the CBSUA. The conference aided the participants in staying ahead of the competition with keynote presentations, panel discussions, and engaging workshops.
