The Biology Teachers Association Bicol Chapter, under the leadership of its President, Dr. Melinda P. Pan, held its 7th Regional Inter-Junior High School Quiz Bee with Basud National High School hailed as victors at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture Student Atrium on March 30, 2023.
A total of 65 private and public schools from the Bicol Region signed in for the Quiz bee competition. Contestants clocked in early in the morning at the CBSUA Students Atrium with their coaches.
After mechanics of the contest were discussed, the contestants were divided into two venues namely the University Library and the Graduate School for the Elimination Round. From the 65 schools, only 10 teams were able to advance to the average round.
The 10 advancing teams gathered once again at the Atrium for the average and difficult round. After answering series of mind-challenging questions, the quiz came to an end.
The winners of the Quiz Bee are as follows:
Champion – Basud National High School
1st Runner Up – Philippine Science High School Bicol Region Campus
2nd Runner Up – Legazpi City Science High School
3rd Runner Up – Mabini Colleges, Inc.
Prof. Myra Homillano, Former President of BIOTA Bicol Chapter, closed the day with her closing remarks extending her warmest congratulatory messages to all the competing teams and coaches.
