748 IDPs AT CBSUA RETURN HOME AFTER TYPHOON PEPITO

After days of bracing for the impact of Typhoon Pepito, 748 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who sought refuge at the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Pili Campus returned to their homes on November 17, 2024.

The decision to decamp was made following a significant decrease in the typhoon’s intensity and the lifting of evacuation orders in affected areas. CBSUA, a Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council member, opened its doors to hundreds of individuals displaced by the impending storm. These IDPs are coming from the towns of Camaligan and Gainza, Camarines Sur. CBSUA welcomed 194 families and 14 individuals totalling the recorded 748 number of evacuees.

The EDMERO (Environment, Disaster Management and Emergency Response Office) CamSur spearheaded the evacuation and the Provincial Capitol provided essential services such as food, and medical assistance to those in need. The swift response and generous support from the university community and local government units were instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of the evacuees. As the situation stabilizes, CBSUA remains committed to its role as a cornerstone of the community, ready to assist in any future emergencies. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘳. 𝘒𝘢𝘳𝘭 𝘑𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘊.
