The six (6) faculty members of the BS Agroforestry program of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources joined the rest of the country for the 8th National Agroforestry Congress held last June 22-23, 2023 at Marzon Hotel, Kalibo, Aklan.
The Congress kickstarted with Sen. Loren Legarda and Engr. Remelyn R. Recoter as Keynote Speaker. The attendees were able to learn from both the plenary paper presenters as well as those in the breakout rooms. The breakout rooms have 3 sessions, to wit: Session 1: Exploring potentials of Agroforestry crop components and supportive technology; Session 2: Contributions of Agroforestry towards sustainable development; Session 3: Socio-economic contributions of Agroforestry. Further, Dr. Celerino Llesol Jr, Ms. Edlynne Kaith R. Manlangit, and Ms. Marvi Mynell Cid presented their respective papers in the different breakout sessions.
The activity was hosted by Aklan State University, UP Los Baños, Institute of Agroforestry (UPLB-CFNR) and the Philippine Agroforestry Education and Research Network (PAFERN). Also, Dr. Celerino Llesol retained his seat as PAFERN board member.
