1ST BICOLANO FARMERS FESTIVAL, AGRI-SUMMIT KICKS OFF IN COLLABORATION WITH VARIOUS AGENCIES

With the theme, “Sustaining Legacies, Cultivating Futures: Celebrating Bicolano Farmers and Agri-Innovations,” CBSUA and its partner agencies: Department of Agriculture, Department of Tourism, ATI Bicol, BLSA, LGU Pili, Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Bicol IconiCs and UNC, Pili Farmers Association, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, United Church of the Philippines, and Pilinios Federation of High-Value Crop Growers, officially launched the week-long 1st Bicolano Farmers Festival and Agri-Summit on May 13, 2024, at the CBSUA Main Campus, San Jose, Pili Camarines Sur.

Throughout the week, various activities will be organized by partner agencies. Key events include the launch of CBSUA Agritourism Projects, Signing of Pledge of Commitment, Tree Planting, Ribbon Cutting, Signing of Memorandum of Agreement with partner agencies, and Accreditation Awarding to CBSUA Agriville and Learning Hub as a Learning Site by DA-ATI and as an Agri-Tourism Destination by the Department of Tourism. Additionally, there will be Trade Fair Exhibits and farm tours as part of the event.

The opening event was attended by key figures like Dr. Alberto Naperi, the University President, Hon. Rodel Tornilla, the Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Dexter Respicio Buted, the National Administrator of the Philippine Coconut Authority, and Hon. Herbie Aguas, the Regional Director of the Department of Tourism. Presidents of the Bicol SUCs, agency partners, and other important guests from the industry were also present.

President Naperi said in his welcome remarks that this event is a tribute to all Bicolano farmers and that CBSUA wants agriculture to be part of the tourism aspect in the Bicol Region. Over the next few days, a series of events are slated, commencing with the BLSA Top 555 Launch, followed by the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Program, Agriolympics, a discourse centered on Bicolano Farmer’s Ingenuity and Innovativeness toward a Food Secure Bicol Community, and concluding with a Technology Commercialization and IPMO Orientation Seminar. These events are scheduled consecutively from the second to the fifth day, culminating on May 17.
