CIT, ESU CAPACITATE 36 BARANGAY, SK OFFICIALS IN DUY’AP TECHTALK EXTENSION PROJECT

In collaboration with the Local Government of Cabusao, the College of Information Technology and Extension Service Unit organized a two-day training entitled DUY’AP TECHTALK EXTENSION PROJECT: 2- Day Basic Computer Manipulation Training,” for thirty-six barangay officials and SK officials on February 3-4, 2024 at the CBSUA-Sipocot Computer Laboratory II.

The opening remarks was given by Prof. Gilda J. Taupa, the Program Chairperson of the College of Information Technology (CIT). Prof. Maria Liwayway P. Matamorosa PhD, the Duy’ap TechTalk Project Leader, explained the rationale of the project and emphasized the importance of bringing digitalization to communities. The message from Prof. Dennis C. Gabon, the Dean of the College of Information Technology (CIT), highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting technology literacy among barangay officials and SK officials.

Mr. Gineo B. Juego, also a faculty extensionist, is the resource person for Module I is. He gave comprehensive discussions on Basic Computer Manipulation. The discussion areas included familiarization of the basic components of a computer, the proper assembly and disassembly of a computer, and file management. The practical approach ensured participants to not only grasp theoretical concepts but also gain practical skills that will help them with their work.

On the 2nd day of the training, Mr. Gineo B. Juego continued the session concentrating on mastering keys using keyboard and mouse manipulation, aspects of CIT categories, and practicing the installation and uninstallation process of an application. A video presentation was also shown about the evolution of the computer operation system. The discussion ended with hands-on activities as an application of their theoretical understanding. The ESU Coordinator, Ms. Lelia C. Taya, expressed her appreciation and commended the enthusiastic participation of the attendees. Furthermore, Prof. Maria Liwayway P. Matamorosa, PhD, motivated the participants to sustain their enthusiasm for learning and reiterated the big role of these skills in their daily work back in their respective barangay. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘴.
