With the aim of creating Academic Affairs Policy Blueprint, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs led by VP Ana E. Miraña sponsored the First Academic Affairs and Policy Summit on 4 June 2021 via Zoom conferencing.
UP-Los Baños Chancellor, Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr. discussed “The Future of Higher Education” among the participants emphasizing the future-proofing of the academe especially the Higher Education Institutions including the continuous partnership and support given to local state colleges and universities like CBSUA. Philippine Association of the State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) President, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, instigated much interest among the members of CBSUA when he discussed “Academic Governance, Innovation, and Solutions in the Artificial intelligence Era”. UPLB College of Agriculture and Food Science Dean, Dr. Elpidio M. Agbisit Jr., shared about “Agriculture 4.0 Farming in Smart Cities of the Future, answering queries on the importance of ensuring that the youth especially the graduates of the school have the love for agriculture and food security.
In the afternoon, UPLB College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf) Dean, Dr. Rowena DT. Baconguis, emphasized the relevance of what teachers must develop among the students today in her talk “Competencies of the Future: What Do the Future Worker Need?, and Institute for Governance and Rural Development Director, Dr. Evelie P. Serrano highlighted the experiences of UPLB and the activities as well as kinds of technology available in her discussion on “Mainstreaming ICT: Classroom Innovation, Teacher Enhancement and Student Support.”
CBSUA President IV, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, expressed his gratitude to all the speakers from the University of the Philippines and PASUC for the endless support they extend to the University.
With the VPAA were the Curriculum Reforms and Development Director, Prof. Vergel Miraña, CANR Dean, Dr. Marilyn P. Balderas, HRD Officer, Mr. Luigi Lorenzo N. Razal, University PIO, Ms. Karen B. Perez, OSAS Director, Ms. Jessel Anne P. Rodriguez, OSAS-Student Discipline Coordinator, Ms. Kennedy A. Beltran, and CBSUA-Faculty Union President, Dr. Immaculate Falabi served as discussants.
The Inception is the first of the steps which lead to the development of the Academic Affairs Blueprint in the attainment of the University’s vision in the coming years.
