Honorable Senator Risa Hontiveros visited the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture to grace the FSSC-CBSUA and SSC-Pili Campus-spearheaded student forum dubbed as “UROLAY-OLAY: A Dialogue with the Youth Today,” on May 23, 2024.
Upon arrival, the Senator paid a courtesy visit to the University President, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi and was welcomed by the key officials of the institution. During the short meeting, Sen. Hontiveros and Dr. Naperi talked about matters concerning the students and the university. Sen. Hontiveros assured Dr. Naperi of her utmost support to the endeavors of the university, particularly the awaited Doctor of Medicine Program offering.
Sen. Hontiveros was then welcomed by the students of the university at the Student Atrium, mainly composed of student leaders of the four campuses, for the talk proper. Here, she delivered a short message, particularly giving honor to the local farmers and encouraging students to think highly of them and change the narrative that sees farming as a ‘poor man’s job.’ in addition, she mentioned of the important role of agricultural institutions, such as CBSUA, for being incubators of innovations that alleviate the way and quality of farming in the country.
The dialogue proceeded as she accommodated questions from the students which touched issues on education and agriculture.
