CEM-DTM FACULTY MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN WORLD TOURISM CONGRESS 2024 IN ITALY

Faculty member Professor Ardolf Arce and Program Chairperson Prof. Enrique Villamor of the College of Economics and Management-Department of Tourism Management attended the World Agritourism Congress 2024 (WAC 2024) in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy, from May 16-18, 2024.

This year’s theme, “Agritourism is More!”  is dedicated to its contribution to sustainable development and challenges. The conduct of WAC 2024 was made possible through the effort of leading scholars and practitioners of agritourism who teamed up in 2022 to form the Global Agritourism Network (GAN).  It gave birth to the idea of inviting agritourism stakeholders, such as farmers and agricultural producers, researchers, educators, community planners, government entities, agricultural service providers, development organizations, tour operators, hospitality operators, event planners, among others, to gather every two years for a World Agritourism Congress.

“The linkages and collaborations established during the three-day Congress by the CBSUA Tourism Management contingent is an opportunity that will surely raise the bar in our ability to gain exposure and interactions with external agencies for the benefit of not only CEM but also of the other Colleges and all CBSUA campuses as well,” as stated by Enrique Villamor, the Department of Tourism Management Chairperson.

“Our attendance at the congress would help in providing academic exchange, research collabs, the conduct of international extension programs, sharing expertise, conducting seminars, conferences, and workshops, with our newly-formed collaborations from the different Universities and other agritourism stakeholders,” according to Professor Ardolf Arce.

Further, University President Albert Naperi said, “We would like to create world-class teachers for the University, and allowing them to attend International symposiums, forums, and congresses will afford them such exposure and opportunity.” |𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧.
