In a bid to mainstream volunteerism in the academe, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) on March 6, 2024, at the OP Boardroom of the Admin Building.

The PNVSC is a government agency under the National Economy and Development Authority and is mandated to promote the participation of the various sectors of Filipino society and adopt and strengthen the practice of volunteerism to attain national development.

The University President, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, relayed a message of support to the undertaking. He expressed his fervor in indulging the University in activities that have something to do with volunteerism. Moreover, he stresses onto the meaning of volunteerism, which is to “render service without considering any monetary value.”

An action planning took place wherein the university representatives discussed addressing the MOU’s provisions in instruction, research, extension, production, and administration and how the new unit will be executed in the University.

The Deputy Execute Director of PNVSC, Ms. Ela Victoria Sarmago, assured the University officials of the agency’s full support in the administration of the program. “We also need to intensify research not just on the scientific but also the social side of research”, Ms. Sarmago added.

Other participants present in the event are the Vice Presidents of the University and PNVSC representatives: Alyssa Marie Villa and Jeffrey Almazan. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘴. 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘐𝘙𝘖 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳
