The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) joined the global community in celebrating the 57th ASEAN Day with a flag-raising ceremony on August 8, 2024. This year’s theme, “Connected and Resilient Community,” highlighted the bloc’s unity and cooperation amidst challenges.
To add color to the event, participants and attendees donned ASEAN-inspired attire. University officials ceremoniously raised the Philippine National Flag and the ASEAN Flag, accompanied by the flags of the nine other ASEAN member states.
CBSUA President Alberto N. Naperi emphasized the importance of global engagement, urging faculty members to participate in international conferences, training, and collaborations actively. “We should not just act local, but also global,” Naperi said, encouraging the CBSUA community to embrace opportunities within the ASEAN region and beyond.
The university has been actively promoting internationalization through various programs such as student exchange, credit transfer, and faculty development, as shared by Vice President for Business and External Affairs, Prof. Cesar S. Camba Sr. These initiatives aim to create a globally connected campus that prepares students and faculty for the demands of the 21st century.
Dr. Cherry Love B. Montales, Director of the International Relations Office, encouraged the CBSUA community to embody the ASEAN spirit of unity, cooperation, and resilience. “This spirit can inspire us to work together, support each other, and build a community where everyone feels connected,” she stated.
As CBSUA continues to strengthen its global partnerships, the university remains committed to producing globally competent graduates who can contribute to the development of the ASEAN region and the world.
