LGU PILI, DOLE, CBSUA TEAM UP TO BOOST LOCAL EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMY

In a significant move towards fostering local entrepreneurship and reducing unemployment, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pili, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), awarded livelihood starter kits to selected beneficiaries across various barangays and hosted a financial literacy seminar presented by CBSUA on May 15, 2024, at the Pili Sports and Cultural Complex.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of key figures, including the acting PESO Manager of LGU-Pili, Mrs. Caterina S. Munez; the Municipal Vice Mayor of Pili, Hon. Francis B. Belen; DOLE Camarines Sur Provincial Field Office’s livelihood focal person, Mrs. Vanessa Antonette Q. Miguel-Maturan; and the Municipal Mayor of Pili, Hon. Tomas P. Bongalonta, Jr. Each delivered messages of encouragement and outlined the vision behind the initiative.

Expressing their gratitude, beneficiaries shared heartfelt messages during the event, emphasizing the opportunity to improve their lives and contribute positively to the community. The distributed livelihood starter kits are designed to cater to various trades and professions, including food and fish vending, auto/motor repair, electrical repair, masonry, carpentry, welding, and tailoring. This initiative aims not only to provide immediate means of livelihood but also to inspire sustainable entrepreneurship among the beneficiaries.

A business management and financial literacy seminar was conducted to support the beneficiaries further. Led by Prof. Mae S.A. Lustre from the Department of Agricultural Economics at the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, the seminar offered insights into practical business strategies, financial management, and overcoming market challenges. This initiative underscores the commitment to ensuring the long-term success and impact of the livelihood program.

The DOLE representative highlighted the programโ€™s goal of assessing the beneficiaries after a year to ensure the effective utilization of the starter kits, aiming for a tangible improvement in their living conditions.
