• Agronomy  – the science and technology of using plants for food, fuel, feed, and fiber.
• Agricultural Economics – the application of the principles of economics to the production of crops and livestock.
• Agricultural Extension  – the application of scientific research and new knowledge to agricultural practices through farmer education.
• Animal Science– the agricultural practice of breeding and raising livestock.
• Entomology – the scientific study of insects, a branch of arthropodology.
• Farming Systems – refers to a population of individual farm systems that have broadly similar resource bases, enterprise patterns, household livelihoods and constraints, and for which similar development strategies and interventions would be appropriate.
• Horticulture – the industry and science of plant propagation and cultivation, crop production, plant breeding and genetic engineering, plant biochemistry, and plant physiology.
• Plant Pathology – the scientific study of plant diseases caused by pathogens (infectious diseases) and environmental conditions (physiological factors).
• Soil Science – the study of soil as a natural resource on the surface of the earth including soil formation, classification and mapping; physical, chemical, biological, and fertility properties of soils; and these properties in relation to the use and management of soils.
