CBSUA, UPD, PAA CONDUCT TRAINING ON HYDROPONICS

On April 1, 2022, a training on Hydroponics was conducted at CBSUA Social Hall. The activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of CBSUA, the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), and the Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Incorporated (PAA, Inc.)’s. Dr. Amelia R. Nicolas spearheaded this training, the head of the HOUSE program, and co-sponsored by PAA National, PAA Bicol Chapter, and DA-ATI.
The general objective of the activity was to promote urban agriculture, improve local food security, and educate the youth on urban farming technologies. Specifically, it seeks to train the participants on applying urban agriculture, specifically Hydroponics. This one-day activity was divided into two sessions, AM and PM. The AM session was participated by educators from DepEd and CHED, including elementary and secondary school teachers with Gulayan sa Paaralan Coordinators and with Agriculture courses in Senior High School. The PM session was joined by LGUs (MAO and Agricultural Technicians) and DA Agricultural Extension Workers. Rosalina Lapitan, Ph.D. – UP Diliman Professor, Jessica Rey, Ph.D. – Project Leader, SPICE and Arthur Baria, Ph.D. – UP Diliman Professor served as the resource persons in the activity who have shared their invaluable knowledge and expertise regarding hydroponics technology. All participants received startup kits for Hydroponics.
