The CBSUA-College of Criminology, under the guidance of Ma’am Lelia Taya-Furto and Proponent Prof. Joseph V. Peรฑano, spearheaded a Two-day Intensive Professionalization and Enhancement Training program for Barangay Tanods on June 8-9, 2024, at CBSUA-Sipocot Campus towards reinforcing community safety and preparedness in the Municipality of Sipocot.

Several barangays participated in the activity, including South Centro, North Centro, Impig, Malubago, and Azucena. The training was conducted by a skilled team of trainers and educators, empowering the participants with essential skills crucial to their roles in ensuring public safety.

The event opened with registration, managed by Ms. Angelica Ibarra and Ms. Jessica Mirando, followed by an inspirational message from Ma’am Crissa Mel Baleta on behalf of Prof. Lelia Taya-Furto. Hon. Barangay Captains Dante Camasis, Jose Rubas, Luis O. Pereja Jr., Rolando B. Datoy, and Bonifacio B. Abaroa extended warm welcomes to the attendees, reinforcing the importance of the training.

Key sessions over the two days covered dynamic topics. Mr. Jan Czar Nocete led a compelling discussion on character building. Prof. Jhunar Mirandilla provided practical training on public safety operations, including patrol techniques, crowd control, and emergency response procedures. Further, Dr. Basilio F. Aguirre and Ms. Jackie Luna discussed disarming techniques and firearm safety, which are essential for maintaining peace and order.

The agenda also included in-depth discussions on search and arrest procedures by Ms. Patricia P. Mendoza and public safety and traffic management by Mr. Adrian Nocos. First aid and water safety, integral for first responders, were expertly covered by Mrs. Jeaneth J. Pailano and Mr. Jose Maria M. Natividad.

The training culminated in awarding the certificates and tokens to the participants and resource speakers, including a closing remark by Dr. Dionesia R.
