CBSUA EMBARKS ON HANDS-ON LEARNING REVOLUTION WITH FACULTY TRAINING

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) is gearing up for a transformative shift in its teaching methodology. To implement a 50/50 balance of theoretical and practical learning for the upcoming academic year, the university hosted a three-day intensive training-workshop on Hands-On Instruction Under Flexible Learning System from June 22 to 24, 2024.

The workshop aimed to equip faculty members with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively integrate hands-on learning into their curricula. According to Dr. Kennedy A. Beltran, Director of the Curriculum and Instruction Division, the training focused on providing participants with strategies, methods, and assessment tools to enhance their teaching practices and create a more engaging and effective learning environment for students.

The hybrid training delved into the evolving landscape of teaching and learning, the significance of syllabus structure and the CBSUA template, strategies for theoretical and hands-on instruction, and assessment methodologies.

Participants from different campuses actively engaged in parallel workshop sessions, presentations, and critiques facilitated by esteemed resource speakers Dr. Emely D. Dicolen and Dr. Monica H. Walet from the University of the Philippines Manila.

In his address, CBSUA President Alberto N. Naperi emphasized the university’s commitment to improving the quality of education through innovation. He lauded the faculty for their dedication and sacrifices but stressed the need for continuous improvement. The President also announced upcoming changes in pedagogy for the SY 2024-2025 to further enhance student learning outcomes.

The training-workshop is expected to significantly impact the teaching and learning process at CBSUA, leading to improved student performance and overall educational quality.
