CVM STUDENT REPRESENTS CBSUA IN INTโ€™L VETERINARY STUDENT INBOUND PROGRAM IN INDONESIA

Ms. Sofia Louise C. Zaballa, a first year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM 1) proper student of the College of Veterinary Medicine, represented the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture in the International Student Inbound Program of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Malang, Indonesia from July 1-30, 2023.

In recognition of her outstanding performance as the 1st Best Participant during the Virtual International Student Exchange (VISE) Program of UB in 2022, Ms. Zaballa was invited to the said event along with nine (9) representatives from Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) and Nong Lam University (NLU), Vietnam.

The program consisted of a one-month-long lecture and hands-on training on various Veterinary Medicine subjects such as Pathology, Parasitology, Microbiology, and Veterinary Clinics. Faculty members from UB and other international universities were lecturers in the program. Some highlights included training on ELISA and RT-PCR
tests, Histotechnique Tissue Sampling, and the basics of handling patients and physical examination of small animals in the animal hospital of UB. Dr. Rachel Allavena, the Deputy Head of the School of Veterinary Science of the University of Queensland, Australia, discussed diagnostic pathology and veterinary forensic and toxicology cases.

As part of their off-campus activities, the participants had an opportunity to visit BBIB Singosari, Indonesiaโ€™s most extensive Artificial Insemination Center for cattle. They explored the Batu Secret Zoo and toured Bromo Mountain and some wildlife sanctuaries. They also participated in the 4th ICAVETS (i.e., International Conference
on Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine for Students). Overall, Ms. Zaballa received an outstanding grade for her performance in the program.

Ms. Zaballa is the first CVM student to be invited to this face-to-face inbound event
