The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, in its mission to equip the faculty-researchers from all campuses with necessary skills in proposal development, partnered with Catalyste+ Canada in a mentorship program on June 9-29, 2024.ย
The Catalyste+ Canada represented by Mr. John Coo, an experienced project manager, fundraiser, and strategic planner for national and international NGOs and agencies, conducted various workshops and coaching sessions for the faculty participants.ย
The first week of the mentorship program involved proposal writing and funderโs workshops which equipped the participants in crafting compelling grant proposals. In its second week, Mr. Coo administered individual and group coaching sessions per campus offering tailored guidance and support. The last week of the mentorship program focused on the comprehensive feedback reports and review of the presentations made by the faculty participants and progress reports highlighting specific areas of improvement.
A cultural immersion program for the expert consultant was also organized to showcase the Bicolano culture and provide an opportunity to interact with the local community.
The three-week mentorship program on proposal preparation for external funding played a pivotal role in research capabilities and funding applications for the university. This initiative from the Research Division Office of CBSUA, advances the universityโs research mission, contributing to academic excellence and broader societal contributions.
