International Short Summer Course Program
Two (2) students of the University namely, Dennis R. Oares (BSAETM) and Madelyn Arimado participated in a summer course program on Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Energy (SAFE) held in Bali, Indonesia from July 24 to 29, 2017.
Malaysia SAFE Course Program
Five (5) student representatives of the University participated in the Summer Program of the University Utara Malaysia. (August 26, 2017 to September 9, 2017)
Short Training Course on Integrated Farming System (SIMANTRI) in Bali, Indonesia, May 2018
The short training program was participated by eight (8) students of CBSUA in which three of those are from the College of Economics and Management. Namely, Emilio Ibarbia, Abegail Maldea, and Argie Sumagpang together with other seven CANR students and accompanied by Prof. Sonny Corporal and Prof. Rita Talay they went to Bali, Indonesia on the 6th day of May 2018 for the 2-weeks short training course. This was hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture of the Universitas Warmadewa.

CBSUA Students and Faculty join Belgium’s South Intensive Program (SIP)
Six students and two faculty members of the University participated in the South Intensive Program: Philippines 2019, bearing the theme, “Adaptation to Climate Change Through Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Agriculture Striving for Mitigation Co-Benefits,” on 3-6 Febraury 2019 at St. Mary’s University (SMU), Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela State University (ISU), Echague, Isabela.
The CEM students-participants are the first year Agribusiness students namely, Jhennalyn S. Sy and Mark Anthony M. Sabularse were among the 24 Filipino students chosen to take part in the SIP program, along with 24 other Belgian students. Other Filipino students were from partner universities of Howest-Vives such as St. Mary’s University (SMU), Isabela State University (ISU), and Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU). Moreover, CBSUA faculty members, Prof. Aries O. Ativo and Ms. Mae S.A. Lustre served as coaches together with six other Filipino faculty members from Howest-Vives. The Professors and coaches also gave lectures on the three (3) focal programs on: Climate Change, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Agriculture.
In this pilot synergy project of Belgium with the Philippines, students both Filipino and Flemish, teamed up to work on various cases such as organic agriculture, bamboo, and trade and cooperatives. Workshops were done using the UCS model developed by Jurgen Ceuppens, a Howest professor. There were also field visits, interviews, and presentation of the initial results and solutions to the local partner cooperatives.
“The 2-week inter-cultural South Intensive Internship commenced with stronger ties between the partner universities (Saint Mary’s, NVSU, ISU, CBSUA, Howest and Vives) of the Synergy Project with inspiring and promising prototypes produced by the students and their coaches. It was a showcase of ideas and action, relevance and practicality, novelty and creativity,” concluded by SIP coordinator, Kathlejne Demeyere during the closing program.
