CBSUA RAC IMPARTS KNOWLEDGE ON STINGLESS BEEKEEPING TO UNC SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS

On April 4, 2024, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture Regional Apiculture Center team assumed the role of Resource Persons at the “Kakaibang Klase” event of the Senior High Students of the University of Nueva Caceres at Jovials Farm, Panicuason, Naga City.

The activity highlighted the importance of stingless bees in the environment, especially in pollinating crops like coconut, pili, and other fruit-bearing trees. Mrs. Olivia Clemente, the farm owner, gave short talks on coconut, pili, cacao, and livestock like native chicken, rabbit, and stingless bees. Ms. Lilia C. Pasiona, the RAC Director, technically shared her expertise on the cultural management practices of stingless bees followed by the hands-on demonstration in checking the colonies and honey harvesting, which was done by Mr. Roberto R. Buenaagua. Pollen checking under a compound microscope was facilitated by Mr. Alvir E. Bausa and Mr. Edmundo B. Casaul Jr facilitated the farm tour. Several challenges were given to the students, such as identifying God’s creation on the farm and using coconut. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘳. 𝘈𝘭𝘷𝘪𝘳 𝘉𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘢, 𝘙𝘈𝘊 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘧𝘧
