On April 26 & 27, 2024, the Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc. and the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture – College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CBSUA-CANR) collaborated to train local farmers in organic agriculture production at the Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc. in Binanuaanan, Pili, Camarines Sur.
It focused on poultry, swine, and goat farming practices and aimed to equip farmers with advanced knowledge and skills in organic agriculture. This initiative encourages sustainable and environmentally friendly farming methods.
The training program is part of the National Certificate II program by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). It incorporates practical, hands-on training in organic farming techniques and promotes organic agriculture as a viable and sustainable alternative to conventional farming practices. This collaboration enriches participants’ educational experience and bolsters regional agricultural education and training efforts.
The esteemed speakers at the event were Santiago Cervantes and Carmelita Cervantes, the owners of Carmel Farm, along with Hazel A. Isiderio, Carmencita I. Portugal, and Joseph B. Nieva, faculty experts from the CBSUA-CANR Department of Animal Science.
