Sustainable development plays a strategic role in rural livelihood systems, as such the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) through the Research Division, Regional Apiculture Center(RAC) and the OVPREPED spearheaded an activity entitled “Book Launching of Community-Based Approach to Sustainable Stingless Beekeeping in Sorsogon,Philippines on 14 November 2019 at CND Hall, CBSUA-Pili.
The “Community-Based Approach to Sustainable Stingless Beekeeping in Sorsogon, Philippines,” authored by Dr. Maria Dulce Jovillano-Mostoles was a project funded by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) Seed fund for Strategic Research and Training (SFRT)Program. Before its launching, CBSUA and RAC conducted various research and development initiatives on Stingless Beekeeping known as meliponiculture. For years it gained wide spread interest among people from all walks of life. Ithas become a means of livelihood to Bicolanos especially in Sorsogon. The project became successful as it led to the publication of the SEARCA Agriculture and Development Discussion Paper series No. 2018-4.
The book launching featured the formal turnover of the book from SEARCA to CBSUA and theorientation of the various programs offered by the publication.
