The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture through the College of Development Education, Bicol Gender and Development Resource Center, Legal Office, Guidance and Counseling Unit, and the Extension Services Division, in collaboration with Fundacion Religiosos Para La Salud, hosted an event entitled “Orientation on Gender, Human Rights, and Climate Change for Womenโ€™s CSOs” on September 23, 2024, as part of the WE CARE TOGETHER PROGRAM: A Community GAD Model.

The event took place at the Alvaro Rabina Halll, Auditorium Building, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur with its primary objective to foster the development of Barangay San Jose, Caroyroyan and San Agustin in Pili, Camarines Sur, as Gender and Development (GAD) Model Learning Laboratories.

Key activities included a training workshop focused on gender sensitivity, highlighting the unique challenges women face due to climate change. Mental health concerns related to climate change were also tackled, emphasizing the importance of incorporating mental health strategies into disaster risk reduction and response programs. Moreover, the orientation featured a discussion on the intersection of human rights and climate change.

A total of 66 participants, 4 men, and 32 women, attended the event. These included barangay officials, Sangguniang Kabataan members, and representatives from various civil society organizations such as solo parents, senior citizens, and womenโ€™s groups.

The resource speakers for the event were Dr. Glenn E. Redecilla, GAD Director; Ms. Leizle B. Manacob, RGC, RPm, University Guidance Counselor; and Atty. Deonalaine Ivy P. Figura from the CBSUA Legal Office.
