The Local Government Unit of Pili partnered with the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture in conducting a Vermicomposting Training on June 7, 2024, at the Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc. in Binanuaanan, Pili, Camarines Sur that aimed to educate and empower local farmers with knowledge and skills in vermicomposting.
This process effectively recycles organic waste into high-quality compost, crucial for transitioning to organic agriculture production. The training covered various essential topics related to vermicomposting, including vermiculture, earthworm taxonomic details, biology, and a comprehensive guide to the vermicomposting process. It also highlighted the benefits of vermicomposting as an organic fertilizer, offering insights into its role in enhancing soil health and plant growth.
The event was supported by the Municipal Agriculturist Office-LGU Pili’s Organic Agriculture-Based Program, in collaboration with Dr. Carmelita N. Cervantes, the Vice-President of Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc., Hon. Augusto A. Camano, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture of LGU Pili, Rodel M. Garbeles, Organic Agriculture Program Focal Person, the Municipal Vice Mayor, Hon. Francis B. Belen (represented by Emerson Zaballa), and CBSUA CANR Faculty Experts Prof. Melchora V.
