The 34th Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights (RSRDH) sponsored by Bicol Consortium for Agriculture and Aquatic Resources Research and Development (BCAARRD) was conducted on February 28, 2023, at FTC Hall, BU Guinobatan Campus.
Consortium Director, Dr. Marissa N. Estrella gave the welcome remarks followed by the presentation of the panel of evaluators and acknowledgment of the participants and guests given by Prof. Ruby M. Macasinag, BCAARRD, Regional Science Communication Cluster Coordinator. The Symposium rules and mechanics were presented by Prof. Ronnel R. Dioneda Sr. BCAARRD, Regional Research, and Development Cluster Coordinator.
A total of 21 papers have been accepted for presentation, 2 of which are from the CBSUA under the Research Category and Development Category. Also, for the poster-student category, 4 entries have been accepted, and 2 are from CBSUA.
The winners were announced the same day, CBSUA was awarded the (1st) first best paper authored by Prof. Agnes Z. Faustino with her paper on “Coastal Area Zoning and CRM Planning for Bato, Camarines Sur” under the Research Category.
Meanwhile, Engr. Marife L. Pesino was awarded the (3rd) third-best paper with her paper “Design and Development of Automated Cacao Bean Fermenter” under the Development Category.
Under the Poster-Student Category, Mr. Carlo M. Sabales with his adviser Dr. Emma G. Jarcia was awarded the (3rd) third-best poster for their paper on “Fertility, Hatchability of Eggs and Survival Rate of Chicks from Kabir and Philippine Native Chicken.
The program concluded with a closing remark from Dr. Lester M. Narvaez, BCAARRD Deputy Director.
