Ms. Jillian April Schleiden, Distinguished Award Scholar-Teacher, visited CBSUA-Calabanga for her cultural immersion.
Brief but lovely cultural presentations at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Library welcomed Schleiden. Colour Edition showcased their neo-ethnic modern dance, telling the audience that everything around us is connected. On the one hand, members of The Writers Project read poetry in three languages, Bikol, Filipino, and English, implying that language does not separate us but rather unifies us. CBSUA Choral rendered a love song while SAMBIT danced Maria Clara, a folk dance about love and courtship, highly influenced by Spanish tradition.
During her speech, CDE Dean, Dr. Raquel Reapor invited the Calabanga Campus to collaborate with their Konekted Extension Program, which includes Microcrendentials on Technical Writing (Business correspondence), and Microcredentials on Academic Research Writing. Dr. Aurora Besmonte, Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Cornelio E. Funtanar, the campus Administrator of Calabanga, immediately expressed commitment to the said collaboration.
The program culminated with a conversation of Ms. Schleiden with the members of the Supreme Student Council of Calabanga Campus.
After the program, the team visited important landmarks in Calabanga like the newly opened Calabanga Museum, the Hinulid Shrine, a popular pilgrim landmark in Calabanga, which is visited by thousands of devotees of Amang Hinulid during Holy Week, and the historical Quipayo Church, one of the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Southeast Asia.
Ms. Schleiden was accompanied by Dr. Raquel Reapor, CDE Dean, Dr. Cherry Love Montales, CDE Internationalization Coordinator, Dr. Maria Carla Baduya, BSE Chair, and Ms. Cristia Shiena Amparo, PIO.
