On June 27, 2022, CBSUA’s Resilience Center, in partnership with the Office of the Campus Administrator, conducted a Chemical Spill Drill at the Chemical Laboratory of the College of Engineering.
The activity was participated by laboratory technicians, faculty, Supply Office personnel, and utility personnel. The Resilience Director shared his experiences regarding safety inside a laboratory and the environmental policies of the University. Dr. Celerino Llesol gave a short but inspirational message of the administration’s support to the safety and environmental activities of the University.
Sanitary Engr. Sheryl Miradora serves as the resource person for the drill. She discussed the importance of having a PPE, and chemical spill kit in all laboratories and storage areas partnered with proper firefighting equipment. Engr. Miradora performed a demonstration of the chemical clean up followed by a simulation of a chemical spill. The activity is part of the continuous improvement in the services of Laboratories in the university to better serve our students. Quality services in the science and engineering laboratories were enhanced thru conduct of the said drill. It will be included in the regular simulation activities conducted inside the university to ensure safety and reduce pollution.
