Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) -Camarines Sur initiated collaboration through a one-day planning meeting dubbed as “Bringing the University Closer to Communities” at Surfers Paradise Beach Resort, Caranan, Pasacao, Camarines Sur on 28 April 2021.
The partnership with the agency ensures to align the undergraduate programs of CBSUA with the diploma courses of TESDA. The activity, likewise, served as an avenue for CBSUA and TESDA Camarines Sur to meet halfway and engage in intellectual discourse coming up with curricula that will bridge the gap between the academe and industry in the field of Industrial Technology, Information and Communications Technology, Tourism and Agriculture.
The said collaboration is part of the Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG) Project headed by SUC President IV, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, together with the IDIG Project Proponents, Dr. Ana E. Miraña, Prof. Vladimir Foronda, Mr. Luigi Lorenzo N. Razal, Prof. Vergel P. Miraña, Prof. Dennis Gabon, and Dr. Christopher Dacer. TESDA Camarines Sur officials led by Provincial Director, Dr. Alejandro R. Cortez and other TESDA Officials represented the cooperating team.
TESDA Provincial Director, Dr. Cortez, mentioned that this partnership will provide skills training programs to CBSUA faculty and students, collaborative researches, and will encourage TESDA diploma courses graduates to pursue higher education, and CBSUA graduates to undergo assessment for National Certificate.
Furthermore, the project will enhance the current Virtual Learning Portal of the University and will bring the university closer to communities by providing access to internet.
“A good partnership does not start with a memorandum of agreement; thus, outcomes and outputs are more important,” Dr. Alberto N. Naperi mentioned in his message.
