A two-day Gender Sensitivity Training and Barangay GAD (Gender and Development) Planning and Budgeting Workshop for FY 2026, a collaborative initiative of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Caramoan, was held on June 16-17, 2025, at the Partido State University (ParSU) Caramoan Campus. Aimed at strengthening gender-responsive governance at the grassroots level, the training brought together barangay officials and stakeholders for capacity building on GAD principles, planning, and budgeting.
The first day featured discussions on the fundamental concepts of gender and development, relevant GAD-related policies, and the localization of the Magna Carta of Women. Resource speakers from CBSUA, Prof. Glenn Redecilla and Prof. Dulce Maria Abigail Jastio, along with ADRA’s Ms. Marife Joven-Dia, shared insights on integrating climate-resilient and gender-responsive approaches into local planning.
In the afternoon, participants engaged in a series of interactive workshops, where they identified gender-related issues, proposed GAD-focused programs and activities, and developed performance indicators and implementation targets.
The second day focused on practical applications, particularly on GAD budgeting and identifying responsible persons for implementation. Participants took part in group workshops, followed by the presentation and critique of their outputs. The event concluded with an open forum, sharing of participant impressions, and the awarding of certificates.
Through this initiative, ADRA, CBSUA, and LGU Caramoan reaffirmed their shared commitment to empowering communities, promoting gender equality, and supporting inclusive, participatory development at the local level. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘡𝘺𝘳𝘢 𝘉. 𝘏𝘪𝘭𝘢
