As part of the College’s proactive commitment towards enhancing safety and preparedness, the College of Engineering and Food Science successfully conducted a comprehensive two-day training workshop on Basic Life Support and Disaster Risk Management to ensure readiness and empowerment of faculty, staff, and students, held on April 24 – 25, 2025.
This initiative aimed to equip the college’s faculty, staff, and students with essential life-saving skills and disaster preparedness strategies.
Held in celebration of CEFS Week 2025 with the theme: “Ready, CEFS, Go: Empowerment and Resilience through Innovations and Collaboration,” the event featured a combination of hands-on simulations and interactive lectures delivered by certified trainers and emergency response professionals from the Pili Rural Health Unit, Gryphon CBSUA Chapter, CBSUA DRRO Unit, Camarines Sur EDMERO, and the Bureau of Fire Protection – Pili.
The first day of the training workshop focused on practical field and rescue operations, featuring sessions on: Vital Signs Assessment, Basic First Aid, Spine Board and Man Carries Management, Ropemanship Skills Training, and Rappelling Exercises.
The second day focused on critical medical response and fire safety, covering the following topics: Basic Life Support, Bandaging Techniques for Injuries, Splinting for Fractures and Limb Support, and Fire Safety Awareness and Firefighting Drills.
