On December 12, 2023, the College of Development Education, being a Center of Development in Teacher Education, conducted an extension activity under the Pinaggikanan asin Bikolnong Suanoy Program titled, “Expressing Love: Filipino Ways of Cultivating Strong Family Bonds,” at Jose B. Velarde Elementary School, Curry, Pili, Camarines Sur.
The beneficiaries are the JVES teachers, IP students, and their parents. It was designed to cultivate Filipino family bonds within the Indigenous communities of Curry, Pili, Camarines Sur. Spearheaded by the CDE, the seminar aimed to empower participants with insights into Filipino practices that enhance family cohesion. In addition to the seminar, the CDE faculty members and student volunteers of the League of Pre-service Elementary Educators organized interactive family games and a festive gift-giving activity to celebrate the holiday season.
This initiative aligns with CDE’s commitment to community service, providing its faculty with an opportunity to share their expertise and foster positive connections within the Indigenous community.
