Marking the official start of their teaching internship, 209 pre-service teachers from the College of Development Education (CDE) participated in the 3rd Pinning and Candle-Lighting Ceremony on February 4, 2025, at the CBSUA LRV Student Atrium.
This year’s ceremony carried the theme, “LAYAG: Setting Sail for Pre-Service Teachers on a Purposeful Journey to Lead the Future of Education.” Reflecting on the theme’s essence, Dr. Allan B. Del Rosario, Campus Administrator, underscored the profound responsibility that comes with the teaching profession, emphasizing the unparalleled dedication it demands.
The highlight of the event was the pinning ceremony, where pre-service teachers, accompanied by their parents and guardians, received their internship nameplates. This symbolic gesture signified their transition into the real teaching world.
Following this, Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered an inspiring message, recognizing the crucial role of parents and guardians in shaping pre-service teachers’ development.
Dr. Kennedy A. Beltran, CDE faculty member and Director of the Curriculum and Instruction Division, led the symbolic candle-lighting ceremony. This was followed by the oath-taking, led by Dr. Melinda P. Pan, Dean of CDE, where the pre-service teachers pledged to uphold the values and responsibilities of educators.
To conclude the ceremony, Mr. Kevin Brizuela, President of the Graduating Class, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the event possible.
The event not only marked the beginning of their teaching internship but also reinforced the importance of purpose, dedication, and integrity as they set sail toward becoming the educators of the future.
