The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) celebrated a significant milestone today, June 27, 2025, with the inauguration and blessing of two pivotal new facilities: the Student Center and the Heritage Building. These additions, made possible by the Free Higher Education Program (Republic Act No. 10931), underscore CBSUA’s commitment to holistic student development and the preservation of rich cultural heritage.
The Student Center, formerly the Old Administrative Building, has been transformed into a comprehensive, one-stop hub for all student services. University President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi explained, “This revitalization aims to provide ease, efficiency, and convenience, so that students will not be roaming around the campus just to find the offices that they need to go to.” The new center is designed to streamline access to essential student resources.
Meanwhile, the Heritage Building, also known as the Sentro ng Wika, Kultura, at Sining (SWKS) Building, solidifies CBSUA’s role as the Regional Center for Filipino Language, Culture, and Arts. It will serve as a centralized hub for natural and cultural heritage, housing offices dedicated to arts, culture, and indigenous knowledge. The building is designed to be a vibrant venue for showcasing diverse arts and cultures through local and international forums, conferences, training, and competitions. Furthermore, it will also act as a platform to nurture student talent, fostering values, creativity, and collaboration.
Dr. Allan B. Del Rosario, CBSUA Pili Campus Administrator, emphasized that the inauguration of these new buildings is “more than just the opening of a physical structure; it is a celebration of our collective vision, which is to create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for our students, who are at the very heart of our academic mission.”
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the buildings’ marker and blessing, led by Dr. Naperi and the new university Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Bernard M. Lagatic. They were joined by key university officials, including Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Atty. Dominador F. Faurillo, VP for Administration and Finance; Prof. Cesar Armando Camba Sr., VP for Business and External Affairs; Prof. Jessel Anne P. Rodriguez, Director of the Office of Student Affairs; Dr. Leopoldo Transona, SWKS Director; and Mr. Jovie Floresca, Student Regent. Members of the CBSUA Student Council, various student organizations, faculty, and non-teaching employees also attended.
The event was also graced by Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and Batangas State University. Dr. Ronquillo expressed his admiration for the CBSUA administration and community for pushing these transformations forward amidst difficulties, always with the students’ well-being in mind.
